Reading, from the tram

Aug 29th, 2008 | By Stephanie Campisi | Category: Journal

Whilst squashed between hordes of my fellow commuters on the tram this evening, I looked out at the gridlock of cars on St Kilda road, and happened to notice how many of the drivers of these cars were sitting there with novels splayed open against their steering wheels.

How whimsical, I thought, if traffic jams were caused by a whole bunch of people reading unputdownable books.

  1. They are obviously well prepared for Melbourne traffic. I’d have a bit more difficulty reading while commuting - kevlar motorcycle gloves make it a bit difficult to turn the pages. Perhaps if I bought a Kindle?

BTW, nice new website, but I can’t see newer entries on your main page. I need to click on the monthly archives.

  2. Hmm, shouldn’t be a problem. . .the Journal bit appears below the News entries, which is perhaps why? I’ll make a note of it for future tweaking.

  3. Ahh that would do it. Silly me, perhaps I should check out that scroll bar thingie on the right, rather than just assuming everything new will magically appear at the top!
