Novel revision slump
Sep 9th, 2008 | By Stephanie Campisi | Category: JournalI’m currently working through my third round of revisions for Downtown, and I’m finding that the re-writing and (and new writing) is feeling somewhat akin to valiantly trying to ride my bicycle up Brunswick Road (a small, but still vicious, cousin of Mt Everest) in the rain. With flat tyres. And no pedals.
I’m adding in scenes at the moment, inserting bits here and there where there are small but annoying gaps in continuity. I probably have another 4 or so scenes to write, which isn’t many, and I think that’s perhaps the problem. It’s done, or at least, it’s so close to being done, and my brain is off and embracing new and wonderful ideas and plots and characters (or at least the second part of Downtown, Kramtkrov).
Oh, well. I guess I just need to change down to first gear and ride it out.
