So, now that the first chapter of Downtown is completely rewritten (and I mean completely–instead of my main character sitting on a statue outside a party, she is now getting up to mischief at a magic show), I feel it’s time to ponder more important things.

What say you about smiley faces with noses? Take, for example, the following:  :-)   : ? )  :^)

Whilst the verbose part of me (which holds about a 95% stake) likes the idea of an extended smiley face, the remaining bit can’t help but think that a smiley face with a nose is the mark of a sociopath. Especially the question mark one. Is it meant to be a quizzical expression? And is the last one meant to be some complex facial equation (eyes to the power of a mouth?), or Lenny from the Simpsons?
