Gosh, it’s dusty in here

Aug 20th, 2009 | By Stephanie Campisi

Oops, yes it’s been a while. I’m fast becoming one of those bloggers who only blog to apologise for not blogging.
But this shall change, as I’ve finished Spatterbaum and Zitherbother and am starting work on a new novel called Doppelgang, which means that I will be engaging in much procrastination. And that means, of [...]

2nd draft of Spatterbaum and Zitherbother done

Aug 3rd, 2009 | By Stephanie Campisi

Yes, I’m feeling like a right smartypants right now. There are a few sections I need to fix up, but mostly it’s looking quite good (even if it is full of my awful humour).
Speaking of awful humour, terrible headline of the day:
Funeral home’s body mix-up ‘mortifying’
. . . The spokeswoman said the owners of the [...]

Novel delights: spellcheck

Jul 25th, 2009 | By Stephanie Campisi

Dear Open Office:
While I appreciate the kind and thoughtful input of your spellchecker, I should point out that ganache and gazpacho are quite different from each other, and that I would suggest not using the latter to ice a cupcake.

Typo of the day and progress report

Jul 24th, 2009 | By Stephanie Campisi

From an article I was reading for work:
“According to Bandura (1994), there are four underling factors related to the development of self-efficacy: mastery experiences, vicarious experiences, social persuasion, and emotional states.”
Somehow I’m unsurprised that underling factors would be related to self-efficacy.
In novelly news, I remain in continued agent/publisher limbo for Downtown, but [...]

I’m quite sure that this was an episode of Millennium.
Spatterbaum and Zitherbother edits are well underway, and I hope to have approximately the first third revised by the end of today. Lots of slashing and hacking going on (in terms of word count, not content), although somehow my word count is growing in the fast [...]

I’ve completed the first two chapters worth of edits on Spatterbaum and Zitherbother, and as a result, my brain is taking on mush-like qualities. The book has turned out to be pitched to a slightly older audience than I first anticipated, so a lot of the rewriting is taking the form of New and Improved [...]

Wordnik and the usual blatherings

Jun 13th, 2009 | By Stephanie Campisi

A very cool online dictionary: wordnik.com
I’ve spent the afternoon finishing off some requested story edits and attemping, er, retrospectively, to meet a few short story deadlines. I’ll endeavour to get some more work done on Spatterbaum and Zitherbother tonight, but this will involve a battle with the usual extraordinary procrastinatory forces of dinner with friends, [...]

Smell of books

Jun 10th, 2009 | By Stephanie Campisi

Smell of Books (TM) has solved my e-book reader problem. Never again will my books not smell like books!
In writing news, I’m hacking away at Spatterbaum and Zitherbother, which now has a new first chapter and an additional 7k words (oops). It’s coming along nicely, though (if a touch ridiculously).
